Sea Shepherd Dolphin Protest in Miami

Sea Shepherd Dolphin Protest in Miami

Yesterday I attended the “World Love for Dolphins Day” protest in downtown Miami organized by Sea Shepherd.  This event is to protest the Taiji Dolphin hunt in Japan, where  thousands dolphins and whales are captured to be sold into captivity or slaughtered by pithing, which leaves the still conscious animals paralyzed and often drowning in the blood of their own family members.

Pensacola Visit

Pensacola Visit

It was great visiting with Terri, Crystal, Andy, Desmond, and Puck on Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday Andy made a vegan version of his favorite Risotto recipe. The dish was naturally creamy without oils, used porcini mushrooms and spinach, and contained no added salt. It was so good. The picture is from Andy’s recipe book, but our dish looked almost just like it.

Earlier in the day Terri, Puck, and I visited Fort Pickens, built with 21 million bricks in 1834. It is perhaps best known for Geronimo’s imprisonment.

Direct Action in Los Angeles

I was happy to participate in a direct action with Direct Action Everywhere in Los Angeles back in July, after attending the Animal Rights National Conference. In this post on medium.com a few days ago, Alex Lockwood describes what it was like to be there, and he nails it. One of the high points for me was when the Sikh gentleman joined us.

Direct Action in Los Angeles

“I wish I knew how to die more comfortably. Or for how long to remain dead. I’m a beginner at this. I’ve fallen down on my shoulder and my head’s not supported, so my neck is straining, but I don’t want to move — I’m dead, right? ”
