Bike Ride on a Warm Winter Day
I couldn’t resist taking a neighborhood ride in these temps.
Ginger’s Solstice Celebration
I had a great time at Ginger’s solstice celebration. I just love sitting around a fire talking with friends.
“Moreover to light a fire is the instinctive and resistant act of man when, at the winter ingress, the curfew is sounded throughout Nature. It indicates a spontaneous, Promethean rebelliousness against the fiat that this recurrent season shall bring foul times, cold darkness, misery and death.” –Thomas Hardy
My Obamacare Enrollment Story
Summary: As the picture attests, I’m all set for 2014, and it wasn’t difficult.
Yes, the healthcare.gov site has glitches, but it is far from a disaster. The first time I tried to register, which was shortly after the site opened, I abandoned the effort because the site was acting a little flaky, and I had heard there were problems. The second attempt to register went smoothly.
Staying the Night at Davy Crockett State Park
Staying the night at Davy Crockett State Park near Lawrenceberg Tennessee.
Davy Crockett State Park
This picture was taken during a morning bike ride at Davy Crockett State Park in Tenessee. This bike trail is paved, but a little bumpy for a road bike because of the places where the pavement has been raised by roots.
The Farm
I remember hearing about “The Farm” in the seventies, but I had never visited until today. It has a colorful history as, what is now called, an intentional community. This is the Farm Store. It sells healthy foods and has a cafe.
Daniel After the Run
Daniel finished in third place today in the Campbellsville Tennessee run, and I was there to see it.
Across the Country on a Bike
I finally scanned the pictures from my 1995 PAC tour ride. Over 60 of us rode over 2800 miles from San Diego to Charleston in 23 days – an average of 123 miles a day. My family, Doreen, and some friends at work came to see me and wish me well when we stopped in Florence Alabama.
The pictures are posted to my smugmug site and can be seen here.
